INGREDIENTS
- 2 kg apples
- 2 oranges
- 2 whole cinnamon sticks
- 10 pieces of whole allspice
- 1 vanilla pod
- 100 g brown cane sugar
- 1 teaspoon ground cloves

INSTRUCTIONS
- 1Peel and core the apples. Cut them into smaller cubes. Place them in a pot and pour in the juice of 2 oranges.
- 2Slice the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the seeds with a knife. Add them to the apples. Then add cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and sugar. Mix and bring to a boil.
- 3Then reduce the heat to a minimum and let it simmer for 1.5 – 2 hours. Then remove the spices and blend with an immersion blender.
- 4Fill sterilized jars, seal with a lid, and turn upside down. Let them cool this way. In the fridge, the apple butter will last at least 6 months in a sealed jar.
Tip
It is great as a filling for pies, for spreading on pancakes, or in cottage cheese with biscuits.
