For the Base
- 200 g plain wheat flour
- 90 g granulated sugar
- 30 g Dutch cocoa
- 2 teaspoons baking soda
- 80 ml rapeseed or sunflower oil
- 1 tablespoon vinegar
For the Filling
- 125 g powdered sugar
- 30 g Dutch cocoa
Instructions
- 1Preheat the oven to 180 °C, prepare a cake tin (⌀ 22 cm), and line it with baking paper.
- 2Prepare the base: In a larger bowl, mix plain flour, granulated sugar, Dutch cocoa, and baking soda. Then add 250 ml of water, 80 ml of oil, and 1 tablespoon of vinegar to the bowl, mix everything together, and whisk the mixture into a smooth batter.
- 3Pour the prepared batter into the lined tin, place the tin in the oven, and bake for 28–30 minutes at 175–180 °C.
- 4Remove the tin from the oven and let the baked base cool for at least 30 minutes.
- 5Meanwhile, mix all the ingredients for the glaze in a bowl.
- 6Once the base has cooled, pour the prepared glaze over it. Then place the cake in the refrigerator and let it chill for 30 minutes.
- 7After chilling, cut the cake into 8 portions and serve.
Tip
You can also serve the cake without the glaze – this will shorten the preparation time.
