Ingredients

  • 300 g wheat plain flour
  • 12 g baking powder
  • 100 g granulated sugar
  • 8 g vanilla sugar
  • 100 g finely ground poppy seeds
  • 120 ml sunflower oil
  • 450 ml semi-skimmed milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 tablespoons strawberry jam

Instructions

    Preheat the oven to 170⁠–⁠175 °C, prepare a baking tray measuring 27 cm × 30 cm, and line it with baking paper.

    Take a larger bowl, add plain flour, baking powder, white granulated sugar, vanilla sugar, and ground poppy seeds, and mix.

    Add sunflower oil, milk, eggs, and strawberry jam to the mixture and work into a thinner batter.

    Pour the finished batter onto the lined tray and spread it thoroughly. Then place the tray in the oven and bake for 30⁠–⁠33 minutes at 170⁠–⁠175 °C.

    Remove the tray from the oven and let the poppy seed cake cool on the tray on the work surface for at least 30 minutes.

    After cooling, remove the poppy seed cake from the tray, cut it into 12 pieces, and serve.
