INGREDIENTS
- approx. 350 g red lentils
- 4 pcs shallots
- 5 cloves garlic
- 1 teaspoon cayenne chili or stronger to taste
- 1 teaspoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon nigella
- 1 teaspoon ground ginger
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 2 teaspoons curry spice
- 100 ml vegetable broth
- 400 ml coconut cream
- A handful of fresh coriander
- Indian naan as a side
- 3 tablespoons coconut oil
INSTRUCTIONS
- 1Heat coconut oil in a pan, sauté finely chopped shallots and sliced garlic until golden. Add spices and let them release their aroma. Stir in rinsed red lentils, pour in the broth, and cook on a very low flame. Once there is no broth left, pour in the coconut cream and continue cooking. The total cooking time for the lentils (including the broth) will be 15 - 20 minutes.
- 2Finally, salt the dhal and stir in chopped coriander. Serve with Indian naan.
