Maintenance
Peonies need to have their stems trimmed just before you put them in water – ideally with a long, angled cut (just like with roses, for example). Connoisseurs trim the stems under water so that air bubbles don’t get into the tissues.
Remove the lower leaves and place the peonies in a clean vase. You can pour in more water. It’s best to change the water in the vase every day, or at least every other day.
Tip: If it seems to you that the peonies don’t want to bloom, or you want to speed up blooming, place them in lukewarm water. After they bloom, put them into very cold, even ice-cold water instead. This will extend their lifespan.
