Ingredients
- 250 g fine oat flakes
- 150 g mixed dried fruit
- 100 g hazelnuts
- 150 g blossom honey
- 2 tablespoons smooth wheat flour
- 1 pinch of salt
Instructions
- 1First, chop the dried fruit to the size of a hazelnut. If you are not using cocktail cherries or juicy dried plums, you must soak the fruit overnight. Any juice will do - apple or orange, but essentially nothing will happen if it's just water.
- 2Preheat the oven to 180 degrees. Heat a dry pan over medium-high heat. Add the nuts and, under constant supervision and occasional shaking, toast them until they start to smell fragrant. Pour them aside into a bowl and let them cool. Then chop them into coarser pieces.
- 3Wipe the used pan with a paper towel, add the oat flakes, and toast them until light golden. Don't forget to stir, burnt flakes, just like nuts, taste bitter.
- 4Line a baking dish approximately 25 x 15 cm with baking paper. Mix the toasted nuts and flakes with flour and salt. If you soaked the fruit, drain it thoroughly and squeeze it a little. Chop it coarsely, add it to the flakes, pour in the honey, and mix into a sticky dough. This is best done by hand.
- 5Press the dough firmly into the prepared baking dish (the bottom of an oiled glass will help). Press down carefully and place into the preheated oven. Bake for 20-25 minutes.
- 6Remove from the oven and let cool completely in the baking dish. Then, using the baking paper, transfer to a cutting board and cut into bars, squares, or triangles.
- 7Excess bars can be stored in the freezer for a longer period.
