INGREDIENTS
- 300 g puff pastry
- 150 g ham
- 10 olives
- A piece of carrot
- Nori seaweed for the hat
- 180 g Gouda block cheese
INGREDIENTS FOR THE SAUCE
- 250 ml passata
- 1 large clove of garlic
- 1 heaping teaspoon of dried oregano
- Salt
YOU WILL ALSO NEED
- Baking paper
INSTRUCTIONS
- 1First, prepare the sauce. Pour the passata into a small saucepan, press a clove of garlic, add oregano and salt to taste. Mix everything and bring to a boil. Cook the sauce for 15 – 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it thickens. Then let it cool.
- 2Roll out the puff pastry into a long strip about 2 mm thick. Then place it with the longer side towards you. Spread the sauce over the entire surface, leaving about 2 cm at the top edge uncoated. Where the pastry is coated, layer the ham and roll the pastry from the bottom up.
- 3Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and preheat the oven to 180 °C.
- 4Cut the resulting roll into 1 cm thick mini pizzas. Arrange them in threes on the baking sheet to form snowmen. Skewer each snowman with a stick so that children can hold them easily after baking.
- 5Grate the cheese finely and sprinkle it on the snowman's body (try to keep the cheese only on the circles).
- 6Cut the olives into small cubes and the carrot into triangles. Use the olives to make the snowman's buttons, eyes, and mouth, and the carrot for the nose.
- 7Place the snowmen in the oven preheated to 180 °C and bake for 10 – 15 minutes.
- 8Prepare a hat for the finished snowmen from Nori seaweed and serve.
Tip
From the remaining puff pastry, you can cut out fun shapes (such as stars), brush them with beaten egg, sprinkle with sesame seeds, and then bake them in the preheated oven at 180 °C until golden brown.
