INGREDIENTS
- 500 g shrimp (can use raw or pre-cooked)
- 6 cloves of garlic
- 1 small red chili pepper (optional, to taste)
- 125 ml extra virgin olive oil
- Salt to taste
- Freshly ground black pepper to taste
- Fresh parsley (for garnish)
INSTRUCTIONS
- 1If using raw shrimp, peel them (leave the tail tip for easier handling) and remove the vein. If using pre-cooked shrimp, simply rinse and dry them.
- 2Peel the garlic and slice it thinly. Cut the chili pepper into thin strips (use less or omit if you don't want the shrimp to be too spicy).
- 3In a large pan or small saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the garlic and chili pepper and sauté until the garlic starts to turn golden. Watch carefully to prevent the garlic from burning.
- 4Once the garlic is golden, add the shrimp, salt, and pepper. If using raw shrimp, cook until they become firm and pink, which should take about 2-3 minutes on each side. If using pre-cooked shrimp, just heat them in the garlic oil, which should take about 1 minute on each side.
- 5Serve immediately, garnished with fresh parsley.
