Ingredients
- 350 g plain white wheat flour
- 50 g white granulated sugar
- 50 g butter
- 1 teaspoon dried yeast (or 10 g fresh)
- Egg
- 1 teaspoon poppy seeds
- Pinch of salt
Instructions
- 1Pour 350 g of plain flour and sugar into a large bowl. Add butter, 150 ml of water, dried yeast, and a pinch of salt, mix everything thoroughly and knead into a smooth dough.
- 2Cover the bowl with the dough with a tea towel and let the dough rise for 45–60 minutes on the work surface. Meanwhile, line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- 3Flour the work surface with 40 g of flour and turn out the risen dough onto it, then divide it into 6 equally sized pieces. Roll out each piece with a rolling pin into thinner circles, about 3–4 mm thick, and roll each into the shape of a crescent. Gently grasp the rolled dough with your fingers, shape it into a horseshoe, and place it on the lined baking sheet. Place the Loupáky far apart on the baking sheet, as they will grow significantly in the oven.
- 4Cover the Loupáky on the baking sheet with a tea towel or cling film and let them rise for another 30–45 minutes. Approximately 10 minutes before the end of rising, start preheating the oven to 180 °C.
- 5Once the Loupáky have risen, crack an egg into a cup, whisk it, and brush the Loupáky with it. Then sprinkle the Loupáky with poppy seeds.
- 6Place the baking sheet in the preheated oven and bake the Loupáky for 15–18 minutes at 180–185 °C.
- 7Let the baked Loupáky cool on the baking sheet for 10 minutes, then serve.
