INGREDIENTS
- 500 ml sangria
- 80 ml brandy
- 2 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 orange
- 10 pcs cloves
- 1 whole cinnamon stick
- ground cinnamon
- nutmeg
INSTRUCTIONS
- 1In a small saucepan, add sugar, cloves, whole cinnamon, a pinch of ground cinnamon, and a pinch of grated nutmeg. Mix the entire mixture and let it caramelize.
- 2Then add brandy, juice from one orange, and finally pour in the sangria. Bring everything to a boil, and as soon as the first bubbles appear, remove from the heat. I prefer mulled wine fresher this way, but if you prefer a more intense spice flavor, you can let it simmer for a few more minutes over low heat.
Tip
For a smoother taste, you can strain the mulled wine, and then add a slice of orange, apple, or forest fruit to the glasses; for example, a blackberry works great. The mulled wine is best enjoyed immediately after preparation.
