About winery
Bodegas Carlos Serres is one of Rioja’s historic wineries. It was founded by Carlos Serres in Haro in 1896. Serres, of French origin, came to Haro (the wine capital of Rioja) after phylloxera destroyed French vineyards. In Haro, he sought quality wines that would satisfy even the most demanding international palates. Carlos Serres quickly became one of the most important figures in the internationalisation of Rioja wines.
Today, the winery has undergone a thorough renovation, extending to its corporate identity and the overall image of its wines. The winery has always worked according to the philosophy set by its founder more than a hundred years ago: to produce wines that satisfy even the most demanding international palates and reflect the Atlantic character of Haro’s terroir, located in the north-west of La Rioja. Bodegas Carlos Serres is a tribute to the universal vision of its founder and to its present-day personality, which endures to this day and produces “today’s wines… with a history”.
