Why We Stopped Rating E-numbers

The quality of food has always been key for us. We care about what you eat and want to help you buy honest, real food.

 

That's why some time ago we started to clearly display all the ingredients of products, including additives - E numbers. We joined forces with Fér potravina, adopting their unique database of E numbers, which allows you to find out with one click what each mysterious code means and what you are actually eating.

 

We believe that every customer has the right to easily find out exactly what a food contains, why it is there, and what it serves.

 

Rohlík offers you this option as the only Czech supermarket. And we do not intend to change that.

 

However, we are removing the smileys from our site that rate the harmfulness of E numbers. We will not tell you what is bad and what is good. However, we will provide you with all the information so you can decide for yourself.

 

We must respect the legislation, which states that all E numbers in food are harmless in strictly regulated amounts. After all, that is exactly why these substances are included in the list of E numbers - the purpose is to regulate their permissible amounts.

 

As a food retailer, we must adhere to these regulations. And manufacturers require it from us as well.

A supermarket cannot evaluate products in terms of health impact, not even with reference to another private organization like Fér potravina.

 

We hope you understand our steps and that you will continue to monitor the composition of food with us even without the E number smileys. In addition to information about E numbers, we will soon launch more new features that will help you easily navigate which food is of quality and which is not. In the near future, we are preparing, for example, the option to filter products by any allergen.
