INGREDIENTS

  • 2 kg apples
  • 2 oranges
  • 2 whole cinnamon sticks
  • 10 pcs allspice
  • 1 vanilla pod
  • 100 g cane sugar
  • 1 teaspoon ground cloves

INSTRUCTIONS

    Peel and core the apples. Cut them into smaller cubes. Place them in a pot and pour in the juice from 2 oranges.

    Slit the vanilla pod lengthwise and scrape out the seeds with a knife. Add to the apples. Then add cinnamon, allspice, cloves, and sugar. Mix and bring to a boil.

    Then reduce the heat to a minimum and let it simmer for 1.5 – 2 hours. Afterwards, remove the whole spices and blend with an immersion blender.

    Fill sterilized jars, seal with a lid, and turn upside down. Let them cool this way. In the refrigerator, the apple butter will last for at least 6 months in a sealed jar.
Tip
It's great as a filling for pies, for spreading on pancakes, or with quark and ladyfingers.
