INGREDIENTS
- 600 g puff pastry
- 400 g American wood-smoked bacon
- 10 sprigs fresh thyme
- Black sesame seeds
- 1 egg
- Freshly ground black pepper
- 150 g grated cheddar
YOU WILL ALSO NEED
- Baking paper
INSTRUCTIONS
- 1Preheat the oven to 180 degrees - top and bottom heat.
- 2Roll out the puff pastry on baking paper into 2 identical rectangles, approximately 20x30 cm. Whisk the egg with thyme leaves and pepper. Spread over the rolled-out dough and sprinkle with cheddar.
- 3Cover with a second sheet of baking paper and press the cheese into the dough. You can use a rolling pin, or your palms will suffice. Carefully peel off the paper and cut the dough into 2 cm wide strips with a rotary or classic knife.
- 4Halve each slice of bacon lengthwise. Place a piece of bacon on each strip of dough. Fold both ends of the dough strip (with the bacon) towards each other so that the brushed side with bacon is facing outwards.
- 5Sprinkle with sesame seeds.
- 6Twist each strip into a spiral and place on a baking sheet lined with baking paper. Leave enough space around the sticks. Bake for 30 - 35 minutes until crispy.
