  • Pinch of baking soda

INSTRUCTIONS

    Pour sugar into a pan or stainless steel ladle. Heat over low heat until the sugar melts into liquid caramel. Keep stirring to prevent burning.

    Once the sugar is completely melted and amber in color, remove it from the heat. Add a pinch of baking soda and stir quickly. The mixture will start to foam and lighten in color.

    Immediately pour the mixture onto baking paper or a silicone mat. Gently press it down with, for example, a glass or a metal disc.

    If desired, press a shape (star, heart, etc.) into the center with a cookie cutter, but do not press the cutter all the way through.

    Let it solidify at room temperature, which only takes a few minutes.
