INGREDIENTS

  • 500 g white cabbage
  • 100 g peeled carrots
  • 1 tablespoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon finely grated horseradish
  • 150 g mayonnaise
  • 2 tablespoons vinegar

INSTRUCTIONS

    Cut out the tough core from the cabbage and slice the leaves into fine strips. Grate the carrots coarsely and set aside.

    In a large bowl, mix the cabbage, salt, and sugar. Squeeze the seasoned cabbage with your hand to partially soften it. Add horseradish and mix. In a separate bowl, mix mayonnaise and vinegar, then add to the cabbage. Mix. Finally, add the carrots and mix.

    Chill in the refrigerator and mix before serving.
Tip
Add the carrots at the very end to prevent them from coloring the salad red.

Tip: For an especially delicate flavor, you can finish the sauce with a drop of lemon juice. Homemade spaetzle or wide noodles, which perfectly soak up the creamy sauce, are an excellent side dish.
