- 500 g minced beef (10% fat)
- 1 teaspoon dried oregano
- 1 clove garlic (crushed)
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 400 g canned chopped tomatoes
- 2 bay leaves
- Salt
- Pepper
- Rice
- Greek yogurt
- Fresh basil
- Fresh oregano
METHOD
First, preheat the oven to 200–210 °C and prepare a baking dish (30 cm × 40 cm).
In a large bowl, combine the minced meat, add oregano, basil, garlic, olive oil, salt, and pepper, and mix everything well. Then, pour 100 ml of water into the prepared baking dish and add the tomatoes and bay leaves. Form balls weighing 55–60 g from the meat mixture and place them into the baking dish. Once all the meat is processed, put the balls in the oven and bake for 15–18 minutes at 200–210 °C.
SERVING TIP
Serve the finished meatballs with rice and Greek yogurt. You can also sprinkle them with coarsely chopped fresh basil or oregano to taste.
Chef's tip
This dish can be divided into portions after cooking, allowed to cool, and then frozen. You can also freeze the raw meat mixture, or already formed meatballs.
